A home visit may be useful where a client cannot travel, documents are kept at home or the facts need to be reviewed on site. It does not replace document analysis and does not guarantee an outcome.
When a visit is useful
- limited mobility or health-related difficulty attending an office;
- a substantial set of documents best reviewed on site;
- a need to inspect an object or record factual circumstances;
- an urgent matter where remote advice is not suitable.
How to prepare
Before the meeting, define the task and gather documents, correspondence and information about deadlines. Agree in advance whether the work is limited to advice, document review or drafting.
The scope and availability of a visit depend on the matter, address and agreed format.
