Separate materials
Files, customer-supplied paper, forms and printer assets may have different owners.
Identify the run
Title, artwork, job number, quantity, packaging and records connect goods to the contract.
Preserve IP rights
Printing does not automatically transfer rights in text, images, fonts or design.
Job asset map
| Object | Evidence | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Artwork and files | Creator, delivery and permitted use | Loss of access or IP dispute |
| Customer material | Delivery note, quantity, marking and balance | Mixing with printer stock |
| Die, stamp or cutting form | Payment, act and identifiers | Inclusion in debtor assets |
| Finished run | Order, marking, packaging and readiness record | Insufficient identification |
| Work in progress | Completion stage, usability and finishing cost | Uneconomic completion |
| Advance payment | Amount, completed work and accrual date | Money claim instead of goods |
Evidence required
Russian contract rules require a contractor to safeguard customer materials, account for their use and return the balance. In insolvency, actual recovery requires evidence of delivery, title and identification. For a finished print run, readiness records, markings, packing lists, photographs and warehouse location also matter.

Separate property, material, advance, defect and loss claims.
Contract and IP matrix
| Situation | Not automatic | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Customer supplies artwork | Printer does not become owner | Licence and permitted scope |
| Printer creates design | Payment may not transfer exclusive rights | Assignment or licence wording |
| Third-party font/image | Printer permission does not legalise every use | Licence for each object |
| Partially completed run | Customer need not accept unusable output blindly | Quality, completeness and finishing cost |
Frequently asked questions
Can customer-supplied paper be recovered?
If title, delivery and the remaining quantity are proved, property recovery is assessed separately from the monetary debt.
Does an advance create title to the print run?
Not automatically. Contract terms, readiness and identification matter.
Who owns design source files?
Authorship, assignment or licence decides this, not payment alone.
Can the job move to another printer?
Yes if the customer has the necessary files and rights; materials and settlement with the former contractor remain separate.
