Start with the relevant period
The evidence needed can differ by period and by the purpose of the claim. Insurance-record data, employment documents, payroll records and employer archives may all be relevant.
Check the records together
- work-book entries and employment contracts;
- orders, payroll and personnel records;
- individual insurance-record information where applicable;
- archive certificates and written employer responses.
Inconsistent entries
Different ink, handwriting or formatting should be assessed with the surrounding documents. Do not alter original records. Request corrections or archive confirmation through the proper route and preserve copies of every request.
Witness evidence
Witness evidence has a limited role and the admissibility of particular proof depends on the type of claim, period and missing-document reason. Before relying on it, assemble the available documentary evidence.
Review before filing
For a pension, benefit or employment dispute, identify the authority, deadline and exact document gap. A document-led review avoids asking for the wrong correction or filing an incomplete claim.
Need a document-based assessment?
Bring the relevant documents and correspondence to an initial consultation. The appropriate route depends on the facts and no result is promised in advance.
