Admission to Russian citizenship under routes often described as simplified depends on the applicant’s specific circumstances and the current law. Citizenship, family relationship, education or residence does not automatically create a right to admission.
What is checked
- the legal ground relied on by the applicant;
- lawful residence and documents confirming status;
- documents proving the circumstances required for that ground;
- language, history and legal-knowledge requirements where the particular route has no exception.
Who makes the decision
The application is considered by the competent internal-affairs authority or its territorial body. It evaluates documents and circumstances, not just the wording of the application.
